Over the past month or so you've had the opportunity to know a little bit about my testimony, and learn about the things that I like to see/read/listen to. Now it's your turn! I want to find out what YOU all want me to write about. Of course I'll only discuss topics regarding the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but anything within that goes!
Have a question you want to ask?? I'll answer it on a blog post!
Have a favorite scripture that you want me to talk about?? I'll post it, and talk about what it means to you, or me, or both.
Have a favorite church video that you want other people to see?? Tell me about it and I'll find it if it is anywhere online!
Comment on this post, or message me on Facebook. You can even email me if you would like! Whatever way works best for you.
Let's start the insanity. ;)
As you know, I am a sucker for a great analogy. You've had a couple good ones lately, so it might be hard to come up with more. But I think a talented, good-looking, totally humble guy like yourself could do it. :)
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note, the scriptures are filled with analogies and Christ often taught using them. I like the idea that the lessons that can be learned from them are mulit-leveled; that is, each learns according to his or her own understanding.
I have 2 questions for you! :)
ReplyDeleteHow do you know when the Holy Ghost is speaking to you... and that it is not just a hunch or your imagination?
What is your favorite scripture that gives you hope?
I have already thought of another one! :) You can cut me off at anytime. I don't want to take up all of your "Friday Free Day Requests" with my questions...you can just answer the ones that you want to. :)
ReplyDeleteWould you please talk to us about spiritual gifts? I know we should seek after them and develop them and share them... but I don't know what mine are, if I have any. How can I learn more about them or recognize them?
My favorite Mormon Messages video is called "Continue in Patience". Pres. Uchtdorf talks about being patient with the Lord, trusting the Lord, and exercising faith in the Lord. Often times, our prayers are not answered immediately. Gods promises are not always fulfilled as quickly or in the way we might hope. But we must keep the commandments and trust in the Lord.
ReplyDeleteMy question is: Why, when we choose to keep the commandments, do we not always get the desired consequence? Why do we not always receive the righteous desires of our hearts?
I love Trudi's first question. I asked my dad this same thing when I was a teenager. His answer changed my life. How do we know it is the Holy Ghost whispering to us, and not just our mind or imagination? My dad told me "it is the same". The Lord can put thoughts into our mind as an answer. What great strength that answer has given me throughout my life.
Lately I have been thinking a lot about "ward families" and what a blessing they are. Since there are some people that don't know what a ward family is, perhaps you could explain it and add my testimony that a ward family can bless a person's life more than they know. What a precious gift God gave us when He organized wards and stakes in this church. And I know if we allow our ward family to serve us it will increase our happiness and desire to serve others.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have an answer to Trudi's question about hope. I love reading in 3 Nephi about when Christ comes to visit the Americas. After reading about all the wars and contentions, (in Alma specifically) and still more wars, then you read about the destruction of the earth and the darkness for days etc, it's so refreshing and peaceful to read about Christ coming after He was resurrected. He teaches, he blesses the little children, He lets people feel the nail prints in His hands, and it's lovely to read. All of those chapters give me hope.
I know... I am a little behind in my comments. I had to think for a while, about what you and Stacey and Tiffany said. First...Thank you for answering my question about the Holy Ghost, Stacey! That has really helped me! :) I have been thinking about Stacey's question. Why don't we always receive the righteous desires of our hearts? I have whined about that plenty. And I have figured out that I ALWAYS do receive what God promises and so much more! It just isn't when I am expecting it, or in a way that I thought. It's always BETTER because I don't see the big picture, and I can never conceive what God has planned for me! And you know what is amazing? When I pray and tell God that these trials are beyond what I can handle... somehow he energizes me, instead of my strength being depleated. It reminds me of how much he loves each of us. Then Tiffany made a comment about which chapters in the Book of Mormon give her hope. Oh, my gosh... those are so full of hope! Why did it take me so long to read the Book of Mormon? I wish I would have known what was in this book! It has changed my life! But mostly it has turned me into someone who loves others like I never have before, and has made me soooo happy! I agree with Tiffany. I just love my ward family too! At first I felt guilty that they were showing me so much love and doing so much for me! But having them there to cheer me on has made a difference ! They have given me the support I needed to stay on track! We need each other to serve God, shoulder to shoulder, because when we are that close... the adversary can't get in!
